Slide Deck

Learning Goal: Develop a formal pitch to investors.

The slide deck you are presenting should explain the nuances of your business idea. The goal is for you to successfully show the need (problem, data) for a particular customer segment (market opportunity) and then explain why your solution is the best among the current options (solution and why it is right for today). You will end the presentation by explaining what your greatest need is. This will clearly articulate your understanding of what you need to move forward. The ending slide should wrap up the presentation with a restatement of the solution.

Guidelines for Your Pitch

  • No more than six points/lines per slide
  • No more than six words per point/line
  • All font sizes must be at least 30+
  • Use an appropriate font for your specific topic/brand
  • If using pictures, each picture must fill a 4th of the slide in size. Use a grid layout for better design.
  • No animations or effects may be used.

  6. Data justification of the problem
      • Etsy has 54 million registered users, with 1.4 million active sellers and 19.8 million active buyers. In 2014, Etsy garnered a revenue of $195.6 million.
      • Houzz recently hit a $2 billion valuation and has 25 million active users.

    • Send a picture of the the completed product.
    • Customer pays remaining half.
    • We ship the product to customer with shipping number from UPS.
    • Follow up call after arrival, we confirm the customer satisfaction and ask them to connect through social media.
    • We then make sure the customer is aware of the custom furniture offerings from Reclaim Renew.
  8. Market opportunity & Industry Trends
    • What are the keys in market and industry that will impact your business. Addressing both positive and negative.
    • New home buyers spend $5,288 on furnishings during the first year after buying a home. They outspend existing home buyers by 2.2 times and non-moving owners 5.3 times. In the second year, these numbers change slightly to $4,075, $1,899 and $2,176.
  9. Competition
    • Provide a review of the key competitor or substitutes that will impact how you position the product in the market.
  10. Why is it right for today here in...
    • The data supports the need for custom furniture that tells a story. In the St. Louis market Reclaim Renew is one of two custom reclaimed wood companies and generates $40,000-$55,000 in monthly revenues. Expanding our reach into additional markets in the midwest is logical.
  11. Where are you now and whats the game plan for the future launch
    • We have developed the business model and implemented the website. We are currently selling 3 mantels a month through the site. We would like to begin an advertising campaign on Google and Facebook.
  12. Revenue projection
    • The average sale is $550 plus $150 for shipping with a cost of $120. At 3 mantels a month, this equates to $20,880 dollars in revenue yearly. This number is offset by furniture sales that come in following the purchase of the mantel through Reclaim Renew.
  13. To get there, I need... (It's the big ask)
    • To improve our revenue we need $10,000 to implement a Google and Facebook ad campaign.
  14. Ending Slide
    • Thanks for listening to the presentation on Barnwood Mantels. The custom fit, sustainably sourced reclaimed mantel company.
