What we do:
The Mother’s Choice Youth Leadership Team (YLC) advocates for Mother’s Choice - a local charity serving many children without families and those faced with crisis pregnancies in Hong Kong.
Our primary mission as a team is to raise awareness and support for our beneficiaries through our biannual events in the school community. We provide members with opportunities to tackle a variety of social issues which affect children and youth, such as the misconceptions surrounding adoption, foster care and sexual consent.
Our council is split into 2 departments:
Logistics Team: responsible for administrative work, planning and research
Design Team: responsible for promotion and social media engagement

Adoption Awareness Week
In 2020, our YLC held an online whole school assembly on adoption awareness and Mother’s Choice. Students were encouraged to write positive messages on a Padlet to help support adopted children and their families. An edpuzzle— interactive video lessons— based on an adoption story was also shared with some basic questions.
In 2021, we hosted a bracelet workshop that allowed students to learn how to make bracelets using colours which were symbolic of adoption. This encouraged students and staff members to gain an interest in learning more adoption, whilst also having fun! Adoption awareness related SPARK games were also integrated in Global Thinking lessons for the students of Bauhinia. We also conducted an interview with students to gain a deeper insight into our school’s knowledge and understanding of adoption.
#FindingFamily Instagram Campaign
In April of 2021, we participated in the design IG page for Mother’s Choice #FindingFamily project. We helped Mother’s Choice come up with a design for their Instagram page to promote stories of adoption and the beginnings of a family coming together.
Foster Care & Families Awareness Week
In 2022, we raised awareness about Foster Care and Families. An informative presentation was sent to all students and teachers of SIS to address this issue. A hair braiding activity was hosted for the Bauhinia students, where we braided hair with symbolic colours whilst educating them about the purpose. Our team also curated a board game to educate and clarify the differences between Foster Care and Adoption.

Our council is currently working on creating an informational website that focuses on Adoption, Foster Care and Consent. We aim to provide accessible and accurate information regarding these causes for students of SIS through this initiative.
