House Council Initiative

The house council is running an ‘integration’ initiative, which involves integrating the younger years into Student Council effectively. The HoHC reps visit tutor groups, talk to lower years and create presentations that are focused on the understanding and participation of Year 7-9s in the Student Council.

Bahay MaD Week

This year, our theme for Bahay MaD Week, which took place online during tutor time, was ‘Inclusivity’. Each day of Bahay MaD Week was related to a subtheme, with a correlated activity. The sub-themes and activities were as follows: On Monday, the 7th of March, students took part in a Padlet related to ‘a sense of identity’, where they either had to write down one thing that makes up their identity or one thing that makes them unique. On Wednesday, the 9th of March, there was an inclusivity presentation related to ‘advocacy,’ introducing what the sub-themes entailed, followed by discussion questions and a Quizlet live on Thursday, the 10th of March, related to ‘relationships’ to test students on how well they engaged in and understood the presentation content. Lastly, on Friday, the 11th of March, we held an interhouse lightning scavenger hunt related to ‘shared experiences’, students had to find three objects in the shortest amount of time possible; one object that represents a passion of theirs, one that represents their culture and one that represents a shared experience. Overall, the MaD week went quite well and we noted consistent engagement with all the activities. However, certain tutor groups did not engage with most activities and we had less participation than expected for the lightning scavenger hunt. However, the tutor groups that did participate in the activities, reported good feedback, particularly for the scavenger hunt.
