Meet your House Captains!
Hi everyone! We’re Nellie and Jocelyn and we’re your Kuca house captains for this year.
What is your role as House Captains? Why is this role important to you?
As House Captains, our role is to make sure everyone in Kuca has an opportunity to develop both individually and in a community. We want to enable everyone to make a difference and also have some fun during interhouse!
What is something you enjoy about the House System?
Having a house system allows students to feel a sense of belonging. Whether that be Year 7s or new students, if someone is a part of a house, they’re a part of a team. It also benefits the older students as it allows them to gain leadership experience and skills which will be very useful in the future.
Why is your House the Best House?
Kuca is the best house because we have the best participation and dedication! Last year we won the house cup because of our determined and ambitious students and we intend to do the same this year.
Why will your House win Inter-House This year?
We beat everyone last year so it’s clear we’re the strongest!
Kuća Current Initiatives 2023/24
House Council
Vertical tutoring → We want to introduce vertical tutoring to younger years so that they can gain experience and knowledge in this field and get ahead when applying to future leadership roles. We will create a survey to send out to see who would be interested and will email tutors to ensure this is doable.
Advice page → We want to create an advice page that everyone can access and anonymously ask questions they have. This could be about IGCSE, IB or just school in general, and we hope that students themselves would be willing to answer.
Y11 Shadowing Programme → A chance for Y11 students to shadow the different departments in the house leadership teams through a weekly rotation for hands-on involvement, and so they can grasp a better idea of what role may suit them when it’s their time to be part of the leadership teams in Year 12.
Kuća MaD Week 2023/24
This year, Kuća MaD council plans to implement new initiatives in order to create a positive impact within the community at SIS and HK. This year, our main goal is to foster greater connectivity and involvement amongst students across year groups to construct a stronger sense of community. One of the ways we will achieve this is through the annual Kuća MaD week which will be in partnership with Mother’s Choice. We will be hosting activities open to the whole school throughout the week for students to engage in and learn more about youth issues. Stay tuned for more details on MaD week to come :)
