Creating Initiatives

So you want to form your own initiative; that's great! It's always wonderful seeing students take charge and looking to Make a Difference to our school.

There are many different ways initiatives take shape in our school–it could be a club, a council, a group, an activity or something completely different! This page hopes to give you a step-by-step guide on how you can take your idea and make it a reality. If you have any questions please reach out to lpurves@sis.edu.hk.

Step 1: Identifying Your Status

Because there are so many ways your ideas can come to life, it's important that we distinguish whether you are looking to start a group, a club, a project (including Global Citizenship or CAS projects), a council, or something entirely different. To help you figure out your status, we've created the diagram below.

If you're looking to start a group, club or project, the process is different to starting a council. Please review the group/club/project criteria from the MaD council before proceeding and ensure that 'group', 'club' or 'project' is the appropriate classification for your initiative!

Students looking to start a council should read through the diagram below carefully and identify a 'pillar' that your idea will belong to (if it doesn't fall under an existing pillar, please be prepared to explain your rationale) and read over the criteria which SICA will assess your proposal against. Before proceeding, please ensure that 'council' is the appropriate classification for your initiative!

If you believe your initiative does not fall under any of the above categories, please reach out to lpurves@sis.edu.hk

Step 2: Submitting a Proposal

After identifying the appropriate status for your initiative, click the corresponding buttons below to fill out the proposal form.

Step 3: The Review

That's all we need from you at the moment–the responsible committee or council will be in touch according to the below timeline. Good luck!

If you have just submitted a council proposal form, you will be contacted by a council representative under the pillar you have selected within 14 days. If you're looking to establish a new pillar, any one of the councils on the SICA committee will reach out to you within 14 days as well.
