Prefects & Head Prefects

At South Island School, we have a well established prefect system, where Year 12 and Year 13 students are assigned key positions of responsibility to help with the effective and efficient day to day running of the school. Read on for more information about the Head prefect team, what we do, and how you can get involved!

Who are Prefects? Who are Head Prefects?

Prefects are students who are selected from the senior years to primarily act as role models to the rest of the school through their regular involvement in school initiatives. This includes assisting staff with daily duties around the school, with Parent’s Evenings, School Concerts and other performances and events; they form an integral part of the leadership of the School.

Head Prefects are a team of 8 students who lead these prefect teams - they are selected through a rigorous application process that concludes with a final interview for a selected short-list with the Principal, School Council Members and other senior staff and attend School Council, Student Council and PTA Meetings to represent the student body. In addition, they are responsible for organising initiatives targeting the overall improvement of student life at South Island, of which some are listed below!
