York College will be the premier destination for students seeking an education that integrates career preparation with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, and will be a catalyst for positive change in higher education and in the broader community. York College will stand apart through:
Our Graduates, known for their readiness to compete in dynamic and competitive global environments, and for the innovative spirit they bring to their life's work;
Our Faculty, known for their expertise, engaging teaching techniques and their commitment to student success;
Our Programs, known for their academic excellence and their relevance to a world of careers; and
Our Campus and Community, known for the distinctive curricular and co-curricular experiences that support student development and our commitment to economic, social, and environmental sustainability.
On November 8th, colleges and universities around the United States celebrate National First-Generation College Student Day. This annual celebration is held to honor the anniversary of the signing of the Higher Education act of 1965.
York College is celebrating National First-Generation Day for the first time this year with a week of events organized by the First Spartans Advisory board.
Being a first-generation college student means that your parent(s) did not complete a 4-year college degree or received a degree from a college or university outside of the US.
Thank you for joining the First Spartans Advisory board to celebrate the successes of YCP first-generation students, faculty, staff, and alums. Today’s art show answers the question, “What do I bring?” It recognizes the complex work resilience and determination it takes to be the first in your family to attend college.
Explore the resources at Center for First Generation Success to better understand the first-generation student experience, engage with research and data, identify support strategies, and explore why advancing first-generation student success is a desirable outcome.
Where Arts and Education Come Together
Arts in Education (AIE) promotes learning in and through the arts throughout Adams, Franklin, Fulton and York counties. Schools, community organizations and senior centers are invited to collaborate with highly trained teaching artists to custom-design learning experiences for their site.
Through our partnership with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the Cultural Alliance powers artists to help others explore and develop their creativity and artistic skills in a variety of educational, community and institutional settings.
stARTSomething is a regional partner with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Cultural Alliance of York County.
Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) Arts in Education (AIE) program is a statewide network of Partners.
