What do I bring?
Kindness and Perspective
What did I make a picture of?
I decided to photograph my mirror.
What does this represent?
I wanted to find something to photograph that showcased both kindness and perspective, which is exactly why I decided on the mirror shared between my roommate and I. On this mirror we have words of affirmations written on the top. These are used as a daily reminder to be positive and kind, as well as to make us feel good looking at our own reflection of who we are.
My perspective of kindness was formed with the assistance of my mom. As a kid she struggled to fit in, and people were never very nice to her, so growing up she taught me to be mindful of others, and the way words and actions can make people feel. She practically preached the concept of treating others how you would want to be treated, you never know what they’re dealing with. She made sure that she raised her children to be loving, respectful, and kind to everyone
Not only are the words written on this mirror acts of kindness to ourselves, but it also shows how I personally view “Kindness.” To me, kindness is the way people speak to or of others, and how they choose to treat and act towards them. Another reason I chose this photo is because it is an object everyone uses in order to view themselves. Self image is something that many struggle with, but what you see in the mirror isn’t the same thing everyone else does. A mirror can reflect something different to everyone that looks into it.
