What does it represent?

When I think about kindness, I think about how I can help someone without them even

asking. Kindness should be an act with no expectations or rewards. In this photo, I show how

kindness is represented with the sun shining on a tree, and the tree provides shade for the

chairs. This is an example of a representation of kindness because if the paint or the wood on

the chair has too much exposure to sun rays it will cause discoloration, but knowing the chair is

wood and was once a tree makes it seem like this tree is protecting its own. The tree was kind

enough to take the sun ray and provide shelter for the chairs. Also, there are two chairs in this

image which represent friendship and these chairs have this comfort space that they made for

each other as they are protected by the tree.

How do I bring kindness to YCP?

In elementary school, I never had the best relationship with other students because of

how quiet I was. I wasn't shown too much kindness and was picked on a lot. Knowing how I

didn't fit in in elementary school when I later entered middle school I decided maybe if I switched

roles and became someone who is mean, I’d be happier. It was great for a while but deep down

inside I realized that this is not who I am, and I hated when I made others feel bad. I decided

from then on that maybe it's better to be kind. Kindness is something I always had in me but for

the attention of others, I changed who I am. The lifestyle I am living now is to always think of

how others may feel, or how I once felt when I wasn't shown kindness and treat others the way I

would like to be treated. Here at YCP, my ways of showing kindness to others are usually

lowkey. The act of kindness doesn't have to be known to the world but it can start with a simple

smile. Just by staying positive, I may make someone's day. My goal as a student at YCP is to

always show kindness with no expectations.
