What do I Bring?
My First-Generation proud story of my Resilience that I bring onto campus
What Picture Represents Resilience?
Picture of my Violin
What does this picture represent?
It represents my journey and gaining my Resilience
The Violin represents my Resilience in a couple of ways. I have played the violin since 3rd grade and Violin takes a long period of time to fully understand how to play the violin it can even take years. Never giving up and practicing on how to do accomplish something turns into something beautiful and becomes a strength just like practicing how to play the violin, over time will play beautiful music for everyone to hear. With the violin it will get dusty, have scratches, it will have out of tune and screeching moments, and you get confused within notes and reading music, but after all that hard work the Violin sounds graceful. Majority of people would quit because of how hard playing the violin is and getting frustrated on understanding how to play beautiful music with something that is so difficult to play. This reminds me of my journey throughout my life and showing resilience after mistake and after a challenge I felt like was difficult for me to accomplish. It reminds me of my family as well because majority didn’t go to college and made mistakes and gave up on it and just worked for all their lives. What I bring to York College is my Resilience because I have gone through traumatic events from childhood to this day of still struggling with certain things in my life. I never gave up no matter how many mistakes I was made and no matter how much people try to bring me down. I have always kept pushing because I want to show myself that I can have a successful life if I keep my Resilience strong and I want to show others at the York College that majority of us have been through so much but fought hard to get accepted here at York College. Their will be some challenging moments but with a positive mind, showing kindness amongst others and showing respect will come a long way of having strong Resilience and to never give on your life when it’s your life to create.
