ACT 0 | THE PROLOGUE, DECEMBER 18, 2161
HICOMM signed off on a USRF expedition to South Sunrise Island, an area previously foreign to the USRF Lakeside Division. The 1st Expeditionary Rifle Battalion was deployed to undertake the mission at hand, the goal of which was to map out the island and learn more about the factions who live there. Over the next year, this expedition team set up an outpost situated at an old, abandoned monorail station near the quarry, appropriately dubbed as "Monorail-1," becoming their new home away from home. During this time, a number of operations were undertaken against the likes of the Voyageurs and other belligerent groups hostile to NEU forces. The mission ended a year later when all operational objectives were checked off. The expedition team soon returned to the Black Mountain Complex.
ACT 1 | OPERATION CLEAR SKY, APRIL 16th, 2163
HICOMM signed off on another USRF expedition to South Island, which was once again to be conducted by the 1st Expeditionary Rifle Battalion to establish a FOB at Lake Erie Power. The intentions of the mission were to establish their presence in the area and to locate reported Voyageur supply caches in the area. Over the next few months, the situation for the 1st Expeditionary Rifle Battalion had gone downhill, as numerous casualties were sustained and continued to mount. These casualties included the deaths of both Lieutenant Dupis and Brigg, the two leading commanders of the unit, along with many other high-ranking individuals. The mission ended at the Omniport, where a retreat was called by command, back to the Black Mountain Complex. The catastrophic failure of the mission resulted in the 1st Expeditionary Rifle Battalion sent to the Southern Theater, as they were deemed to be no longer fit to serve in the region.
ACT 2 | OPERATION RED RISING, JULY 21, 2163
What started off as a small FLA investigation turned into a bloodbath in a small town, and the start of something even more sinister. Bridgetown, a small settlement located on the North Island Highway, was in a constant battle for influence, involving USRF against an unknown group, which is believed to be behind the mysterious breaches of the Intranet system, ambushes against the USRF on North Island, and the capture of FLA officers. Months went past as USRF/FLA attempted to investigate the secrets of the town, such as who they were being supplied by, and who is really in charge. In the end though, it resulted in the town revolting against the USRF and claimed independence from the Union. However, things took a turn for the worse as the supposed 'Mayor' of Bridgetown was assassinated during a speech after trying to resolve their issues with the USRF and resulted in a heavy gunfight as USRF/FLA attempted to flee the town. To this day, the mystery of the town remains unsolved, alongside with the identities of many town figureheads and the sniper that has terrorized the USRF multiple times.
ACT 3 | THE COUP, FEBRUARY 27TH, 2164
What started off as an odd military convoy towards Douglass on the morning of February 27th, 2164, would quickly evolve into a coup d'état against the previous reigning Triumvirate government of the NEU, led by the Southern Division's Director Étienne Dubois. Within a matter of days, the forces loyal to Dubois had seized the very heart of the Northeast Union after heavy fighting and had proclaimed a new government with him at the helm as the President, completely abolishing the Triumvirate that had preceded his administration. One of the most immediate noticeable effects of this on the Lakeside Division was the Hilltop Group's Pittsburgh and Detroit Detachments going rogue and abandoning their posts, following the Triumvirate activating the private military company in an attempt to save the Triumvirate from the ongoing coup to no real avail, along with the Lakeside Division siding with the new regime. Not long after, a company-sized element of Lakeside's own was offered to assist in a new operation being planned by the regime to retake New York City, which remained firmly within the grasp of the Triumvirate Guard, who were guarding the last surviving Triumvir, Triumvir Ronald Paul Adams. The LD's own 9th Liberation Expeditionary Company, under the command of Captain Sullivan, by March 29th had captured the final surviving Triumvir Adams within an apartment complex in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Bringing an end to Lakeside's Participation in Operation Market Bagger.
ACT 4 | DRUMS OF WAR, JULY 3RD, 2164
Black Mountain has lost contact with Captain William Pierre and his Green Rifles on South Island following an artillery fire mission gone wrong. According to preliminary records, a lapse of communication led to both the Green Rifles and militants from Southpoint State being hit by USRF mortar fire, resulting in over half a dozen deaths. The artillery fire mission, initially intended to destroy an Eldritch Nest following irregular mutant activity in the area, has led to Southpoint State and the USRF Lakeside Division entering a state of war. The Green Rifles under the command of Captain William Pierre, betrayed the Union and assisted Southpoint State with their final sinister solution for humanity, and with it, they had unleashed a horror unmatched thus far in mankind's history: The Biomass. It quickly overran the Black Cavern and Mine within hours, leading to dozens of CDT fatalities and many more going missing within its spread. With the SPS's proclamation of war on humanity, the situation at Black Mountain continues to develop for the worse. Humanities survival was on the line and now, the Lakeside Division was on the frontline for that war.
ACT 5 | OPERATION LEAF RAKE, SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2164
Following the continued spread of the Biomass within the Sunrise Isles. Elsewhere, the USRF HICOMM had devised an operation. Operation Leaf Rake was the Union's plan to finally remove the threat the Canadian Federation presented to the Union. once and for all so that war material of the Northern Division could be shipped down to the Southern frontline. The goal was simple: to eradicate the Canadian state. The Lakeside Division would ship off its most crucial war material to assist the Northern Division in its upcoming war and manpower from many of its bases. In return, the Northern Division's 54th Wintergreen Light Infantry Regiment was sent to the Black Mountain Complex to assist in regional operations and to supplement the remaining Lakeside Division forces present on the Sunrise Islands.
The invasion of Canada began swiftly and without a hitch, but something rather unexpected occurred. The Princess Kathleen's Commandos (PKC) had parachuted onto on the Isles from UR-66 VTOLS, completely devastating the Lakeside Division's defensive fortified positions on the coast, ultimately wiping out the entire 30-man contingent stationed there. Following this and the arrival of the New Model Army, the Lakeside Division, along with the Great Lakes Coalition East, had established a no-fly zone and naval blockade around the entire islands to ensure that the 'Biomass' didn't escape containment on the aisles, along with trying to stop both the PKC and the NMA from being resupplied, something which would mutually benefit both parties. However, an unlikely friendship would bloom once more, as the regional command of the Black Mountain Garrison, desperate for allies in their multi-front war reached out to the remnants of Hilltop Group stranded on the Isles, who would accept the Union's deal to fight alongside them, on agreeable terms for both sides.
ACT 6 | OPERATION HEADSTONE, JANUARY 7TH, 2165
The Department of Quarantine, viewing the Lakeside Division's attempts at containing the Biomass was at a significant risk of failure. The decision was therefore made to dispatch a company of the Crisis Corp's 99th Biological Containment Battalion to the isles, in an attempt to openly fight the Biomass along with spearheading the research into how to eradicate or cure the Biomass and render it inert. With all eyes of the Union cautiously watching the developing situation on Sunrise Isles, it leaves a question as to whether or not they will succeed.
