INTRODUCTION
Established after the 2164 Constitutional Crisis, the Central Security Bureau (CSB) was created as a law enforcement agency to replace the now-defunct Federal Law Authority (FLA), which was believed to harbor anti-Union ideology due to them siding with the now-deposed Triumvirate government during the coup d'état. Many CSB staffers are former FLA officers who have reprised their role in law enforcement, after an extensive background search ensured their loyalty to the new regime. The CSB has a total monopoly over the NEU's national security, tasked with law enforcement, guarding detention camps, and even functioning as the military police force for the USRF. In order to achieve this goal, the CSB has branches, each of which answers directly to the President and the Supreme Authority. The CSB is known for its brutal but efficient law enforcement procedures, ensuring the safety and security of the NEU's citizens in exchange for fewer personal freedoms. Officers are also known to take justice into their own hands, acting as judge, jury and executioner. Enforcing laws with an iron fist to ensure compliance, most citizens are straight-up intimidated into staying on the right side of the law. Criminals who choose to disregard order and commit crimes anyway will be subject to the CSB's unorthodox and often ruthless law enforcement practices. Ofttimes, they will get away with being arrested and taken to a jailhouse, while the unlucky ones may catch a beating and be left on the side of the road by officers. Other times they may even outright disappear, never to be seen or heard from again.
PROPAGANDA & REEDUCATION OF THE FEDERAL LAW AUTHORITY
Enacted as a joint effort between the Department of Truth and the Department of Law & Order, this reeducation program was designed to ensure compliance with and loyalty to the new regime among Federal Law Authority (FLA) officers. FLA personnel, regardless of rank or department, were interned in temporary camps, facing a stark choice: undergo the new government's screening process or accept "retirement" and remain silent about their previous work, reassignment to less-intensive posts or leaving the FLA outright. This intensive four-week program placed officers in shared barracks, isolated from their usual environments and subjecting them to constant psychological evaluations and surveillance. Any and all communication with the outside world was strictly prohibited, with even internal conversations between officers being closely monitored. The reeducation materials relied heavily upon propaganda, repeatedly emphasizing the corruption of the previous government and aiming to instill a ruthless dedication to the new regime. Any form of dissent or refusal to continue the screening process would result in the FLA officer's forced "retirement."
As the reeducation process concluded, officers deemed fit for service underwent final testing, discarded their old FLA uniforms and adopted the CSB's anonymous style. They were then properly integrated into the CSB, often returning to their previous precincts in order to leverage existing rapport. The Supreme Authority and associated departments relied heavily on the effectiveness of this reeducation to maintain strict control over former FLA personnel and ensure absolute loyalty to the new regime within their ranks. Furthermore, all "rehabilitated" officers were reminded of the severe consequences should they be found to have been lying under oath or should they fail a second screening. The program's success lay in its ability to transform former FLA officers into staunch supporters of the new regime, ensuring the CSB's dominance and the unwavering enforcement of the new government's laws and ideologies.
The Gendarmerie Nationale (GN) is a heavily militarized policing force that is entirely focused on maintaining law and order within the NEU's provinces. Typically found within the Union's large cities, the Gendarmerie's influence is often truly only felt in large towns and urban hellscapes where the majority of the Union's population lives. Poorer and more rural regions and provinces may have much reduced Gendarmerie presence due to the lesser importance and lower priority placed upon these areas.

The Directorate of Public Order (DPO) focuses on the internal domestic affairs of the Northeast Union. Despite almost never being seen, their presence and influence is always felt, as the DPO is effectively the "All-Seeing Eye" of the Presidential Regime. They are tasked with the surveillance of urban centers, monitoring Intranet activity, keeping tabs on the affairs of the citizenry and high-ranking officials alike, and much more. Often working hand-in-hand with the Department of Truth, the DPO is also responsible for the actual dissemination of propaganda and other "helpful information" to the people of the Union. After all, a "properly" informed citizen is an orderly citizen.

The Reclamation Discipline Authority (RDA), better known as simply the Discipline Authority (DA), is the military police force of the NEU, responsible for keeping the USRF in check and ensuring the fair and humane treatment of prisoners. They operate independently from the USRF command structure, despite being deployed to the same bases that they are, answering directly to the Supreme Authority. DA Officers are referred to as "MPs" in daily speak, or derogatorily as "Jackboots" by USRF soldiers behind their backs. Known to be highly effective and unwaveringly loyal to the state, their job is to keep the USRF in check, and to make sure that the Reclamation Codex of 2164 is followed by each and every USRF service member. At times, they may also act as "barrier troops", secretly deploying behind USRF forces during extremely important and high-risk missions in order to stop desertion attempts at all costs.

In order to ensure the safety of the Union from all foreign threats, the External Security Service (ESS) serves an exceptionally special role within the Central Security Bureau. Though the ESS works hand-in-hand with USRF High Command to uncover dissent and plots of treason caused by foreign influence, their true loyalty lies entirely to the President and the other heads of the Union. Rumors have circulated - especially in the period following the regime change - about high-ranking officials being carried off by ESS agents at the whim of the President due to being deemed as "threats to the safety of the Union", only to never be seen or heard from again.
