Adding links to 3rd-party scans in Alma

• Identify online scan to be linked in Alma

• Copy the URL for the scan

• In Alma only: 

  • Add 530 "Online version available via "SourceName"

  • Add 856 40 ǂ3 "SourceName" ǂu "URL"

• Click View Related Data

• Click View Inventory

• Click Portfolio

• Click Add Local Portfolio

• Alternatively, enter Alt-O from the Metadata Editor to skip to the Add Portfolio page

• Scroll down to Inventory and Linking Information

• Paste in the URL

• Select material type from the dropdown menu

• Click Save and Done

• Special case (item specific information)

  • Occasionally the holdings record will have a local note that needs to display, such as Volume 1 only. Place this information in the Notes area as a Public Note.
