Items that come to Cataloging as rush requests are given priority over all other materials. All rush items will have, or should be given, an orange flag with the name of the requestor
Rush items are usually placed on the Rush shelf in the Catalog Dept. All catalogers are expected to monitor this shelf for new items
Disposition of requested items
After cataloging, rush items are hand delivered rather than placed on the binder shelves
Scores and books are taken to the Bindery
Sound recordings and any media housed in the Recording Stacks are placed in the box behind the Circulation Desk
EXCEPTION: Rush items that come in a folder with a label indicating that the item will be bound when returned should be given directly to the Access Services Manager or placed in that person's mail slot. NOTE: Both barcodes for these items should be placed on the front of the folder on top of the plastic tape in the upper left-hand corner. When the item is bound they can then be removed and placed on the new pamphlet binding.
