Editing local holdings records in OCLC

Editing local holdings records in OCLC Connexion to close off a title

• This can only be done in the Connexion browser interface.

• Go to connexion.oclc.org and log in with your usual credentials; OR

• In the Connnexion client, go to the Tools menu and select Launch Local Holdings Maintenance.

• Select Worldcat from the Search Options dropdown menu and enter an OCLC number search.

• Under the Action menu, choose Edit Local Holdings.

• Edit the areas of the record that have an open date. Not all holdings records will have the date coded in multiple fields.

• When finished, under the Action menu, choose Replace Record.

Creating a local holdings record for newly cataloged serials

• Search Worldcat for the record, as above.

• Under the Action menu, choose Create Local Holdings.

• Simplest procedure: Edit the leader Encoding Level to level 2.

• In the Summary field, replace Local holdings available with summary of holdings.

  2. When finished, under the Action menu, choose Add record
