"Daily life"

町は、そこに住む人々がどのように暮らしてきたかを表わしている。 その土地の気候に対する家の工夫や、何を生業として暮らしているのか。 また、人々の習慣が、文化や伝統と呼ばれるまでに育つこともある。 それらはそこに住む人々が過ごしてきた時間の積み重ねなのだ。 

そのことに思いを馳せると、何とも言えない気持ちになる。 世界では、日常が理不尽な力で一瞬にして壊され、奪われている現実がある。 そんな中絵なんて呑気に描いている自分は、これでいいのか？と思う時もあるが、 できなくなるその日までは、この状況に感謝し、日常を積み重ねていきたい。

Towns reflect how the people have lived there. How their houses have been adapted to the climate, what their occupations are. Sometimes people's customs can grow to culture or traditions. These are the accumulation of the time spent by the people who live there. When I think about this, I feel an indescribable emotion. Around the world, the reality exist that everyday life is being destroyed and taken away in an instant by unreasonable forces. Sometimes I wonder if it's okay for me to be so carefree as to paint pictures in such a situation, until the day comes when I can no longer do so, I will be grateful for my situation and continue to build up my daily life.

6版12色で、阿波和紙にガッシュで刷っています。水性木版は浮世絵と同じ作り方で、色ごとに版を分けて刷り重ねます。今回は木目を水面に見えるように川の部分を刷り、木の葉はゴマ刷り、と刷り方を工夫しました。また、久しぶりの６版だったので、色合わせと細かい版の微調整に苦戦し、勉強になりました。 見た人が優しい気持ちになれたらいいなと思って、この作品を作りました。

It is printed with gouache on Awa washi paper using 6 plates and 12 colors. Water-based woodcut prints are made in the same way as ukiyo-e, with a separate plate for each color and then printed each other. I printed the river so that the wood grain looks like the water's surface, and used a "gomazuri" printing method for the leaves. It had been a while since I last made a 6-plate print, so I struggled with color matching and fine-tuning the details of the plates, and it was a learning experience. I hope that people who see this work feel kind.
