Water falls as rain, lands on the earth, passes through forests and among trees, becomes rivers, and eventually returns to the sea. Within this cycle of water, I see a reflection of how different things encounter one another and gradually transform. A river can also serve as a boundary between lands. Yet water does not remain within those boundaries. It continues to flow, slowly eroding and reshaping the earth over time, meeting and merging with other waters along the way. In this work, I depict rain, rivers, water surfaces, and trees to express a landscape in which waters from different places meet, merge, and become a new current. “Where Water Comes Together with Other Water” is a place where different things come into contact and boundaries gradually shift. From there, a new flow begins.

This work is a scene from an etching picture book that I am currently creating.
Through the imagery that emerges on rainy days, I seek to create a quiet atmosphere in which the
stillness of rain gently resonates with and accompanies the viewer.
