境界線という言葉だけ聞くと、なにかとなにかのはっきりとした境目という印象を受けます。

 　でも、私たち人間ひとりひとりは様々な感情や事情を抱えながら生きています。国境だって、越えるとまるで違う世界が待ち受けているのかと思えば、たくさんの共通点があることに気づきます。昼と夜、秋と冬、と言葉で書けば違いは明らかですが、その境界線を見ることができません。生と死の境界線は未来から見るとはっきりした境界線があるのかもしれませんが、その境界線がいつ引かれるのかは誰にもわかりませんし、今を生きている自分自身では見ることができません。

　境界線のことを考えれば考えるほど、私たちは簡単に割り切れることのない世界に生きていることを改めて認識させられる気持ちになりました。だからこそあいまいさや違いを受け入れて、抱きしめて今を大切にしたい気持ちを作品に込めました。

The image for “Boundary line” is something that separates two(or more) things. 

 Although, each of us already has various emotions and is in different circumstances. Drawing the lines between them is quite difficult. The border line is the line that separates two countries, but once we cross the border we can find lots of commonalities. When we think of “Day and night” or “fall and winter”, it’s obvious those are different things, but we can’t find the pinpoint boundary line between them. Maybe we can see the line between life and death by others, but not by ourselves because there’s no boundary line yet when we live.

  Exploring this theme “boundaries” made me realize how complex the world is. It is not easy to divide things. So what is the boundary? I think it’s not that important to find or draw the exact lines, I believe the answer is in this simple idea; embrace ambiguity and “carpe diem”.
