Beehives are a moneymaker for Salemtown resident-run shops. Honey from the hives is sold at the Salemtowne Gift Shop and the Variety Store and the jars sell quickly. Bob Giegengack, our resident apiarist (beekeeper), maintains the hives and collects and jars the honey; he has a honey of a hobby.
There are two beehive locations:
At the western corner of Moravian Way Drive and Salemtowne Drive, behind the grove of trees, at the center of the ridgeline to the west of the trees, two active beehives stand side by side.
On the north side of the Community Gardens, on the opposite side of the gravel road, in the grass next to the treeline, two active beehives stand side by side.
