The kiosk was built and donated in 2020 by Ellis Caudle, a Boy Scout, as a project for his Eagle Scout certification. The project was dedicated to the late Dr. Dick Patterson, a well-known and well-loved local retired pediatric oncologist and past Salemtowne resident who started the Children’s Cancer Program at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. In addition to the kiosk, Ellis lowered two sections of the pier railing to make fishing more accessible.
