Deacon Way Stream

More Salemtowne runoff water

The source of this stream is mostly water from a pipe that carries runoff water from the Deacon Way Parking Lots, Salemtowne property. The Muir Trail crosses the stream on Deacon Way Bridge. The stream flows over large rocks as it flows down the hill into University Creek just below the Dragon Pool. Depending on when it last rained and how much rain fell, the stream may be dry, have some water flowing, or it may be a raging torrent. When the flow rate is low, it trickles between the big rocks in the stream bed. When the flow rate is high, the water crashes down over the rock and creates numerous small waterfalls, so check out the stream after a large rainstorm.

On the southern side of Deacon Way Bridge, after a big rainstorm, the runoff water from the Deacon Way Parking Lots overflows the Muir Trail and flows into a secondary stream the connects with the Deacon Way Stream on its way down to Dragon Pool. This area can be slippery after a storm but it dries quickly.

Halfway down the hill toward University Creek, a small, short side stream enters the Deacon Way Stream from the south. The water may be from a small spring.
