Essay #2 should be a 4-5 paragraph essay regarding Malcolm X.  Your introduction should be a statement about who he was and what he accomplished in his life.  The next 3 body paragraphs should discuss in order: his life before he joined the Nation of Islam and what he did when he joined the Nation of Islam,  the time he went on pilgramage to Mecca and what he discovered on his pilgramage and then the time after the pilgramage and how he was changed and how that was reflected in the changes he made in his life (i.e. leaving the Nation of Islam and starting his own group).  The final paragraph should sum up what you think of his life and work and perhaps include how he died and what that meant to his work.

This essay is due Monday May 13, 2019

Change in reading schedule for Slaves in the Family:  Now we will not be having weekly quizzes as they are not working out as too many in the class are not keeping up with their reading.  The whole book has to be completed by Wednesday May 29, 2019.  On that day, you will be writing an in-class essay on a subject that has to do with the complete book.  You may bring the book in to class and use it for names, but you should be prepared to write about the book as if you do not have access to it.  This will be a final assignment for the trimester and will count for credit in class...so please be prepared.
