The School One Math Competency Exam covers math that is relevant to daily life, such as keeping track of your checking account balance, figuring how much paint to buy to paint your room, and ordering pizza for a party. There is no algebra on the test, although simple algebra could be used to answer many of the questions. Your best prep for the test is to know what's covered, review specific skills using these sheets and/or getting regular help from a teacher (does not have to be a math teacher!), and have a plan for which sections you are going to try each time the test is given. Remember to schedule a time to meet with a math teacher to look at your test and make a plan for next time. Good luck!
