Final In-Class Essay: To be completed in class 3/4/24
In the book, The Sunflower, Simon Wiesenthal, a Holocaust survivor, asks the reader to consider the following scenario and question. He is brought into the presence of a dying nazi soldier who confesses to committing atrocities against jewish people...as he is dying, he asks Simon to listen to his story and at the end of the story, asks Simon for his forgiveness. The question that Simon asks of the reader is "Would you have forgiven the dying soldier?" Considering all that you have learned this trimester, and the accounts from the Witness book, how do you think one of the witnesses you read about would answer? How would you answer this question? You must write a standard Humanities department essay and can include quotes from the Witness book. You may also paraphrase information and use "I" statements in this essay.
