Assignment I:  Due Wednesday September 11, 2024

Reading chapter 2...please read this chapter and complete on a separate piece of paper the Chapter 2 review.  In addition to the Critical Thinking  questions from the chapter 2 review, I would also like you to answer the Document based questions on page 39.  These questions are about the reading on that page of Hammurabi's Code.  Please see Erin if you need help with any part of your homework assignment.  


Assignment II:  Due Wednesday September 18, 2024

Read Chapter 3...complete, on a separate piece of paper, the Chapter 3 review at the end of the chapter.  Also complete and write out your answers to the Document -Based Questions for the reading on page 59 and the Wrap-up questions on The Babylonian Captivity on page 60. Please see Erin if you need help with any part of your homework assignment.  


Assignment III:  Please read Chapter 4 and answer the questions in the Lesson 1-4 reviews on a separate piece of paper.  This is due Monday September 30, 2024 Please see Erin if you need help with any part of your homework assignment.  


Assignment IV:  City of the Dead project:  Please design and draw a City of the Dead for your Pharaoh.  The design must include the following:  A Temple for the preparation of the body, The Main Pyramid and pyramids for the Pharaoh and his Family, a cemetery for the Priests and workers (separately) as part of the whole complex.  The final project must be a drawn, bird's eye map of the City of the Dead.  The drawing must be in color and include a key.  Bonus points will be given for drawing the interior of the Pyramid showing traps used to stop grave robbers from stealing the Pharaoh's mummy and his stuff.  This is due Wednesday October 9,2024.

Assignment V:  Chapter 6: Ancient Greece reading - Due Monday October 21, 2024 - Please read chapter 6 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 141 for the Pericles Praises Athens reading, the questions for the Greek Mythology reading on page 142, and the Chapter Review on pages 144 and 145.  Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.


Assignment VI:  Chapter 7: Rome reading - Due Wednesday November 13, 2024 - Please read chapter 7 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 163 for the How to Get Elected in Rome reading, the questions for the Life in Rome reading on page 164, and the Chapter Review on pages 166 and 167Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.


Trimester II

Chapter 8 - The Roman Empire - Due Wednesday December 11, 2024 - Please read chapter 8 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 187 for the Battle of Adrianople reading, the questions for the Women in Greek and Roman History reading on page 188,  and the Chapter Review on pages 190 and 191.  Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.


Unit 2 - Chapter 10: The High and Late Middle Ages - Due Wednesday  January 22, 2025.  Please read chapter 10 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 243 for A Crusader's Letter reading, the questions for the Unlucky King John and the Magna Carta reading on page 244,  and the Chapter Review on pages 246 and 247Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.


Castle Project:

Part I:  Please make a folder of images and diagrams of castles to use as you design your own castle.  I will be collecting this with your finished diagram.

Part II:  You must draw a diagram of your castle.  You need to make it defensible and include in your design elements that will help your castle withstand a long siege.  You should make a list of the things you will need to have in order to survive the siege...think of the people and animals that are likely to be in your castle.  The castle diagram should be in the form of an overhead drawing of the castle and its defensive items.  Everything has to be historically correct for the 12th or 13th centuries.  If you need help with the design, drawing or list, please come and see Erin asap!!!  This is due on Monday February 10, 2025...to be presented in class.

Final Project:  Cathedral Stained Glass Window

Please design a stained glass window that commemorates something about the 14th century.  Whether it is the Hundred Year's War,  the Black Death, or anything else like bad weather or famine etc.  This drawing/design is due Monday 3/3/25 and will be presented in class.



Trimester III

Unit 3 - Chapter 14: The Renaissance - Due Monday March 31, 2025.  Please read chapter 14 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 345, The Making of a Renaissance Gentleman reading, and the questions for The Hundred Year's War reading on page 346,  and finally, the Chapter Review on pages 348 and 349Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.


Unit 3 - Chapter 15: The Reformation - Due Wednesday April 16, 2025.  Please read chapter 15 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 369, John Calvin's Strict Code of Conduct reading, and the questions for The Harsh Life of German Peasants reading on page 370,  and finally, the Chapter Review on pages 372 and 373.  Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.


Unit 3 - Chapter 17: The Beginnings of Our Global Age - Due Wednesday May 7, 2025.  Please read chapter 17 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 421, for A Warm Welcome for Cortes reading, and the questions for the Diseases in Human History  reading on page 422,  and finally, the Chapter Review on pages 424 and 425Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.


There is a deadline for all overdue work and revisions for Wednesday May 21, 2025.


Unit 3 - Chapter 18: The Age of Kings- Due Wednesday May 28, 2025.  Please read chapter 18 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 451, for The English Bill of Rights reading, and the questions for the Playing the Fool reading on page 452,  and finally, the Chapter Review on pages 454 and 455.  Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.

Assignment III:  Please read Chapter 4 and answer the questions in the Lesson 1-4 reviews on a separate piece of paper.  This is due Wednesday September 28, 2022.

Also due on that day, please make a list of the most important Egyptian Gods.  Please also write 2-3 sentences telling me who the God is and what they are the God of in Egyptian mythology.  It is up to you to determine which Gods are the important ones.  Please do the homework on a google doc.

Assignment VI:   Greek Gods Research assignment:  Like your work with the Egyptian Gods, I would like you to look up and write 3-4 sentences about each of the following Greek Gods:  Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Artemis, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Demeter, Hestia, Ares, Hermes and Dionysus.  Remember to put the URL of the website/websites you used for your research at the bottom of the page.   This is due Wednesday October 26, 2022.

Assignment VII:   Greek God Bedroom Extravaganza:  Due for presentation the class on Wednesday November 9, 2022:   Please design the bedroom/private space of two of the Greek Gods you researched for this project.  You must hand in a floor plan for each room and two walls of each room for a total of six pages.  The bedrooms should reflect the habits and personalities of the Gods you chose.  Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.


Assignment VIII:  Chapter 7 - The Roman Republic - Due Monday November 7, 2022 - Please read chapter 7 and on a separate piece of paper answer the questions on page 163 How To Get Elected in Rome reading, and the Chapter Review on pages 166 and 167Please make sure you put your name on your homework paper.

Final Project - Due Monday November 16, 2020 - Roman City

Please design a map of a Roman city...it must have a forum where the government buildings, temples and markets are located.  It must also have either a theatre, coliseum or race track in the city.  You must also have a building that contains the Roman baths.  You may incorporate elements of all of the societies that we have studied in class this trimester.   I would love to see how you can incorporate Egypt and Greece into your Roman city.

City of the Dead Project - Due Friday September 28, 2018

Each student must design a City of the Dead for their fictional Pharaoh.  The project consists 

of drawing a map of the entire city and four drawings of the interior of the Pharaoh's tomb walls.

Time will be given in class to work on this project but should be completed at home.
