College Articles Testing (SAT, ACT)

The articles below discuss issues like comparing the SATs and ACTs and schools that don't require either.  Don't forget to check whether schools require Subject Tests if you're applying to more competitive schools.  Note the study showing the effectiveness of just 20 hours of work on the Khan Academy SAT prep site.  While I don't have comparable statistics about its effectiveness, another free test prep site is https://www.albert.io/test-prep/college-entrance

Students should take the PSATs here to get a sense of the SAT.

To get a sense of the ACT, go to www.petersons.com/college-search/free-act-practice-test.aspx for a free online ACT practice test. Do this and the PSAT to decide which will work better for you.   The ACT is now providing free online test prep to match the SAT, but there is no evidence of its success rate as there is for Khan Academy and the SAT.  You can find the ACT prep site at www.act.org/academy

In addition to Khan Academy's free SAT prep, this company is offering free SAT bootcamps prior to at least Spring SATs: https://schoolhouse.world/sat-bootcamp
