An essential part of this course will be the practice of sitting as well as walking meditation. This is mandatory and will be taught and practiced EVERY CLASS OF THE TRIMESTER. It is also mandatory that it be practiced at least once a week outside of class and a journal be maintained.
Below you will find class expectations, assignments with due dates, agendas, and assorted bits and pieces of information that may make your flow easier. Please check this site regularly in order to prepare effectively for each class.

For those students who did not take Trimester I of The History of Eastern Philosophy, or have and would like a review, watch the video "The Buddha" (below) up to 1:02:00.

Review the Overview of Zen Arts Project (with list of arts to choose from)
Decide on which Zen Art you will research, practice (throughout the rest of the trimester) and demonstrate in your presentation (at the end of the trimester).
Bear in mind: you will be responsible for getting all the equipment and materials needed on your own. You will also be responsible for teaching yourself the art (with some input/advice from Phil).
Decisions must be made and approved by Phil on Thursday (4/11)

Gather materials for your chosen Zen Art and start learning it.
