Pulled Pork Sauce

Pulled Pork Sauce

So you just made the most phenomenal pulled pork you've ever tasted (I'm taking for granted that you followed my instructions) and now you're looking for something with a little budda-bing to accent your sandwich. Look no further than this mustard based sauce, it not only has budda-bing, it also packs in a dose of budda-boom, a heapin' helpin' of yowza!, and an ample supply of zippity-do-da!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup prepared yellow mustard
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • ¾ cup cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne
  • ½ teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke

Directions

Mix everything together, and bring to a boil, then let the sauce simmer until it starts to reduce a little, 15-20 minutes. The sauce works well straight off the stove, but giving it a bit of time to cool and settle is a good idea too. I like to make this when the meat hits its resting phase, by the time the pork is pulled, the sauce is ready.
