Tips and tricks discovered through multiple hours and playthrough's, some obvious, others maybe a little nuanced and tailored to my play style, but all valuable in my opinion.
1. Don't be afraid to quit and start from the beginning. The game was created with a mechanic that allows you to take your experience and skills from one play onto the next. If you start but can't make it through a psycho, no matter what you do, end the play and start over, you'll take your improved stats and expanded inventory with you and make the next play better.
2. Use books! There are a lot of different books in the game, at the beginning you'll need to conserve your inventory for weapons and food, but books can expand their usability, sometimes exponentially. Take a little time to discover whats there, it's worth the effort!
3. Carry food at all times! Even a little food goes a long way, especially for your survivor escorts. Keeping a jug of juice on hand will heal survivors that get swarmed during an escort and make the difference between a live escort and a failed mission.
4. Carry spare weapons. Depending on what you're using, you can go through a lot of weapons on the horde. Even if you don't need them yourself, survivors can often be armed, carrying a pistol to hand out makes a big difference, especially as guns never run out of ammo when given to a survivor. On that note..
5. Adam the Clown is the most important fight of the game, do not, under any circumstances miss it. Killing Adam will allow you to rescue Greg, who will show you the shortcut between Wonderland and Paradise Plaza, this saves time and survivor lives. Even more importantly, you'll get access to his chainsaw, it's fast, effective, and when combined with 3 of the books is almost indestructible.
6. The convicts are not only not that difficult, they will be your greatest resource. They respawn every day, giving you multiple accesses to their Jeep and the gun they carry, this gun could also be called "The Clown Killer"
7. At the start of the game don't get bogged down with the wrong weapons, baseball bats are your best first option, swords are second. There is a katana located on the ledge overlooking paradise plaza, jump over the wall beside the orange juice in Columbia Roast, it'll re-spawn every time you leave, and a baseball bat is on the roof near the duct entrance. Next best, a lead pipe.
8. If you need more zombies to kill head into the maintenance tunnels, it literally swarms with them.
9. Don't get bogged down with photographing, it'll waste a lot of time. There are a few achievements that need it and if you're trying to fully flesh out that game as Frank you're going to want to explore it, but it's not that essential to the core game, you'll pick up what you need as you go.
10. Guns are good for the survivors but aren't that much use to you. You need to carry too many to make them useful and the game is not built around them anyway, so don't waste your efforts.
