About

Who created this website?

Initially I created a directory of Auckland riding locations after the 2007 Auckland Regional Parks horse riding workshops showed that there weren't any good resources, and I had the skills to put together a free website. Due to demand from around the country, it grew to also provide information on other regions. A number of fellow riders, and clubs have been frequent contributors.

The aim has always been to provide information - not become a commercial website or advertise for commercial operators.

ALL information is now provided by contributions from YOU - local horse riders

What does this site cover?

Any publicly accessible places to ride (or drive) your horse. These must be places that anyone can go to.

Trails, parks or forests using a permit system (or charging a fee) are accepted - as long as anyone can get a permit (can be listed publicly).

This site does not list:

  • private farms where each person must ask permission for access (where the landowner does not have an 'open access' policy), or where you have to ask before each ride.

  • club grounds, sporting or commercial facilities, that do not cater for recreational activities (hacking) for the general public.

  • clubs or trekking events.

How is it updated?

This is a completely volunteer based project, with no funding.

Contributions of information are via the Facebook page, or using the online forms.
