Trails and Access - Keys

Most horse trails are near the Twin Lakes Rd, Te Marua entrance. There are many parking areas along Twin Lakes Road, including a huge all weather parking area at the end of the road. There are also plenty of places to turn around safely, and wide rideable grass berms to extend your ride from where ever you park to a formal trail.

There are good views and hill riding opportunities available on tracks through the pine plantation. The Kaitoke Hill Plantation area of the park includes Kaitoke Hill and Pylon Loop Tracks. These tracks are multiuse so be aware of walkers and mountain bikers.

Riders need to collect a Horse Riding Permit and keys from GW'sUpper Hutt office to ride in the pine plantation and through to the Pakuratahi Forest as there are several locked gates along the way.
