Fairlie to Kimbell trail

A local trail maintained by the Fairlie Lions club. A pretty ride from Fairlie township to Kimbell pub, approx 11km (2 hours).

Opihi River Trail Fairlie - Kimbell

Local Riders start from Kerrs Crossing, or Clayton Rd, and the trail follows the river to Stoneleigh Rd near Kimbell. There are wide verges, along Clayton Rd, that are suitable both for parking, and for riding along if you wish to extend your ride.

Parking

There is a parking area at "Kerrs Crossing", near the river, and the start of the path. (Kerrs, Rd, off Clayton Road).

Alternately there is also parking along Allendale Rd (where there are also picnic tables), if you wished to extend your ride going up the verges of Clayton Rd.

The Four Peaks High Country Track (FPHCT) , Four Peaks Station (near Fairlie).

Price $325 pp 2 nights/3 days riding 60 kms, $225 pp 1 night/2 days riding 24 kms

Price includes transporting food, equipment to huts.

A track over a privately owned high country station, of around 40-50kms of well-defined sheep tracks, riverbed and 4WD track. Walking, cycling or horse riding. Walking or horse riding the route over 3 or 4 days, includes nights in original musterer's huts that have been upgraded for your comfort. The track is open from November to April, with bookings in groups of up to 10 people. Mountain biking & horse trekking (with your own horses) are also options on FPHCT. This is real New Zealand.

There are yards at the huts to let your horses graze safely overnight while you unwind in the historic shepherd’s Huts on the station. It is advisable to have shod horses.

Blue Mountain Station

Blue Mountain Station is a 9500ha high country station nestled within the Four Peaks Range, South Canterbury. Just a short 30 minute drive from the ‘Gateway to the MacKenzie’ the Township of Fairlie. The station is comprised of rolling to steep tussock country running along the beautiful Orari River.

Farmland, steep terrain, water to cross (surf or streams), well marked trails drinkable water, toilets, ranger or manager on-site, water troughs on trails, marked trails - good signage, map(s) more than 10kms shared with trailbikes,4WDs or other motor vehicles rocky surfaces (hard on hooves), shared tracks on working farm by the shearing shed
