Horse Riding at Awhitu Regional Park

Awhitu Regional Park is almost at the tip of the southern heads of the Manukau harbour. Approx 33km north of Waiuku.

Trails and Terrain

Park riding at Awhitu is mainly across farmland. There is little signage at the park directed at horse riders so it is hard to get a good idea of where you can and cannot ride, but generally you can ride anywhere in the paddocks or on marked trails. The park itself is on gentle rolling land, so should suit a wide range of riders.

Map and Directions

From Waiuku take the Awhitu Rd, from King St. Drive approx 33km and turn right onto Brook Rd (Awhitu). The park turnoff is well signposted.

Parking

Parking is off to one end of the main parking area - on the grass (however if it is wet you may be asked to park in the main carpark). Be aware of others (general public) parking nearby, and potentially passing by the unloading\loading area. Please pick up all manure from the area.
