I have to say I was not a big fan of the pre-World War 2 "white notes" until I saw their extensive watermarks in person. The early series with colour, look out! They have classic designs but one must really do their research to discover which prefixes are replacements, first, last or tough in any way. This is an area still new to me so I have stuck to the basics on most of my Great Britain sets. Like older US banknotes, I recommend you get well acquainted with their early issues & know your signatures/prefixes before you start buying. Remember to practice patience and due diligence in every purchase.
Pre-QEII 10 Schillings, Emergency WWII Pound and regular Pound notes have colourful spirographic designs. The first QEII series (P-373 10 Shillings to P-376 10 Pounds) will remain popular. The second series (mid-1970's) is also one of my favourites and should I have extras you will see them soon. I believe that these banknotes & the 1990 Five (P-382), Ten (P-383) & Twenty (P-384) Pound notes which seem to favour "crown" over "marker" on their design will always enjoy a large fanbase.
These, like Irish, Jersey & Isle of Man notes, tend to have a dedicated fan base & for good reason. Like the English notes, series are often issued in a confusing array of hefty prefixes. The smaller nations are typically produced in much limited numbers. These limited series/prefixes & signature combinations have made them a favourite note to acquire for most UK/World collectors. Note, I can now sell you UNC 5 pounds for both QEII & KCIII (07/10/24) & added them to my list. I will beat any eBay price!
