The Republic of South Africa has a rich history & is regarded as the powerhouse of the African continent with its diamonds, gold mines and vast natural resources, the South African's Rand has become an essential currency to acquire. This country has suffered through much conflict, including the Boer War & other civil strife. This makes some workhorses extremely hard to obtain (in decent condition). Denominations were first issued in Pounds and later the Rand. Great designs!
