Hong Kong was a part of the Commonwealth until the lease with Britain expired in 1997.   Only recently, has the special "Two Government systems" been tested by the Chinese authorities.  Only time will tell what is in store for this resilient, mega populated city-state under the glare of the Peoples Republic of China's state police.
