I can think of several reasons one would insist on having some Australian notes for his/her collection.  The #1 reason is that they have historically intricate designs.  The second reason would be that this colony-come-nation went from the British Pound to the decimal "Dollar" currency.  The third (& ultimate) reason would be that Australian printers became the world leaders in their polymer banknote technology with exceptional security features.  As such, the majority of their paper currency has since disappeared (& skyrocketed in BV) immediately after the new polymer notes took over.  Try to buy a replacement in the older series and you'll soon discover that you need DEEP pockets in order to obtain a problem-free high grade example.
