Christmas Episodes of Sitcoms

Along with watching Christmas movies this time of year, I sometimes like to rewatch the Christmas-themed episodes that many sitcoms have, in order to get into the festive spirit. For a long time now I’ve been wanting to put together a list of all of the Christmas episodes from my favourite sitcoms—instead of just googling it every time—and this year I finally did it! Below you’ll find the Christmas-themed episodes of seven shows labelled and summarised for your convenience. Enjoy!

Schitt’s Creek:
S4, E13: “Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose”
Johnny tries to throw a Christmas party like they used to when they were rich, but his family is reluctant to do it without the money.
Malcolm in the Middle:
S3, E7: “Christmas”
Lois cancels Christmas and Francis spends Christmas with Grandma Ida.
S5, E7: “Christmas Trees”
Hal sells Christmas trees.
S6, E6: “Hal’s Christmas Gift”
Everyone has to make homemade Christmas gifts but Hal realises that his are much worse than everyone else’s, so he takes them on a long drive to nowhere.
The Office:
S2, E10: “Christmas Party”
Michael overspends on his secret Santa gift and gets disappointed by what Phyllis got him, so he turns it into a gift steal. Also, Jim tries to give the teapot to Pam.
S3, E10 & E11: “A Benihana Christmas: Parts 1 & 2”
Michael gets broken up with and dueling parties are competing for guests when the Party Planning Committee splits up.
S5, E11: “Moroccan Christmas”
They plan an intervention for Meredith’s drinking problem and Phyllis blackmails Angela because she’s sleeping with Dwight. Also, Dwight tries to sell weird toys.
S6, E13: “Secret Santa”
Phyllis wants to dress up as Santa but Michael is not having it. Also, Dwight and Andy do karaoke.
S7, E11 & E12: “Classy Christmas: Parts 1 & 2”
Holly is coming back, so Michael wants to throw a Christmas party that’s “classy” and “adult”. Also, Jim and Dwight have the snowball fight.
S8, E10: “Christmas Wishes”
With Michael gone, Andy is in charge and tries to grant everybody’s Christmas wishes. Also, Erin is trying to avoid meeting Andy’s new girlfriend.
S9, E9: “Dwight Christmas”
Dwight dresses up as Belsnickel.
Modern Family:
S1, E10: “Undeck the Halls”
Phil cancels Christmas when he finds a cigarette burn on their couch, Jay clashes with Colombian holiday traditions, and Cam and Mitch accidentally get a mall Santa fired.
S3, E10: “Express Christmas”
They can’t be together for Christmas, so they try to celebrate it months earlier with little to no preparation.
S5, E10: “The Old Man and the Tree”
Phil tries to achieve his New Year’s resolution from the previous year, Haley and Alex work at the mall as an elf and Mrs. Claus, and Gloria gets jealous because Claire bonds with her mom.
S7, E9: “White Christmas”
Gloria takes everyone up to a log cabin in the mountains, but the weather is unusually hot and a stranger is living in their cabin. Also, Andy and Haley’s secret relationship is discovered by the rest of the family.
S10, E10: “Stuck in a Moment”
Haley and Dylan are planning to reveal that they’re pregnant and Jay and Gloria have to leave their house because a venomous spider is found there.
S11, E9: “The Last Christmas”
Everyone is avoiding each other, because Luke is dating Manny’s ex-girlfriend, Jay is trying to get Claire to join his dog business, and Gloria is secretly interviewing for another real estate firm behind Phil’s back.
How I Met Your Mother:
S2, E11: “How Lily Stole Christmas”
Lily finds out that Ted called her a “grinch” when she and Marshall were broken up and cancels Christmas.
S4, E11: “Little Minnesota”
Robin feels homesick since she isn’t in Canada for the holidays, so Marshall brings her to a bar where he goes when he feels homesick for Minnesota. Also, Ted tries to stop Barney from sleeping with his sister.
S6, E12: “False Positive”
Lily thinks she might be pregnant and Robin and Barney are unhappy with their life choices, so Ted tries to fix everything.
S7, E12: “Symphony of Illumination”
Robin learns that she can’t have kids and Ted tries to cheer her up. Also, Marshall is trying to have the best Christmas lights but gets tricked by a teenager.
S8, E10: “The Over-Correction”
Robin is annoyed that Barney is dating Patrice, so she breaks into his house. She finds that her other friends are also hiding in Barney’s apartment for unrelated reasons, so they all try to avoid getting caught.
S8, E11 & E12: “The Final Page: Parts 1 & 2”
Robin tries to get Patrice fired, Marshall jinxes Barney so he can’t talk for most of the episode and at the end, Robin and Barney get engaged.
Fresh Off the Boat:
S2, E10: “The Real Santa”
Jessica thinks Santa can be improved so she tells Evan that Santa is Chinese. Also, Eddie and Emery try to find a good Christmas gift for Jessica.
S3, E8: “Where Are the Giggles?”
Evan is left home alone and has his Kevin McCallister moment, while Marvin is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future.
S4, E10: “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
Jessica threatens to cut the neighborhood caroling this year due to last year's rocky performance, and Marvin thinks that Honey is cheating when she goes to see Titanic at the movie theatre without him.
S5, E8: “Cousin Eddie”
Eddie tells Jessica that he wants to spend Christmas with Nicole in New York, but Jessica isn’t having it.
S6, E10: “Jessica Town”
Louis tries to help Jessica with Christmas preparations, and Eddie and Evan break an expensive Christmas gift.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine:
S1, E11: “Christmas”
Holt has received a lot of death threats, so Jake is put in charge of protecting him (and immediately abuses that power). Also, Terry has a psych evaluation to see if he’s allowed to get back out on the field.
S2, E10: “The Pontiac Bandit Returns”
Jake tries to get the Pontiac Bandit arrested but he has useful information about a drug ring, so they have to work together. Also, Gina and Boyle try to sabotage their parents’ relationship.
S3, E10: “Yippie Kayak”
When doing last-minute Christmas shopping, then end up in a hostage situation, basically like Die Hard.
S4, E10: “Captain Latvia”
They prepare for a Christmas singing competition against the MTA police and Jake helps Boyle find a toy for his son.
