Art Reflections/Movie Night: PTA will be hosting a Reflections Art Gallery and movie night on October 21st! This event will be at 5:30 pm at Tierra Linda.

Unity Day: Unity Day will be on Wednesday, October 18th. Remember to wear orange! 

Scholastic Book Order: LAST CALL for the October Scholastic Book Order! If you would like to order books, our class page is https://orders.scholastic.com/YG4WQ. I will be submitting all orders on 10/18/23. 


OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE

Math: This week, we will continue working in Module 2, which focuses on measurement. Students will be estimating and measuring mass in grams, kilograms, liters and milliliters. They will relate this concept to that of place value by using a number line and unit comparisons. 

Reader's Workshop: Students will continue participating in our Reader's Workshop centers. This week we will be focusing on finding the main idea and key details of a grade level text. 

We will continue reading our class chapter book, Frindle! 

Writer's Workshop: This week students will continue writing their first narrative about a haunted house. They will focus on descriptive language and the use of adjectives to add spice to their writing. They will also learn about setting, character development, sequence of events and story problems. 

Art: Students will finish their Multiplication Haunted House art projects this week.  

Social Studies: This week, students will continue with Week 8 in our Studies Weekly curriculum.  Week 8 teaches students how to use map skills! 


Science: We will continue working in our first unit of study for Science, which is Balancing Forces. We will begin exploring some October themed investigations through Mystery Science.

P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E every week.
