Week 31

April 22-26

Hello Parents and Students,

CAASPP Testing

CAASPP Testing Practice: Below are step-by-step instructions if you would like to take CAASPP practice tests at home:

CAASPP Math Homework: This week, students will have an additional page of Math HW. They will come home with a CAASPP math packet. This MUST return to school each day as we will be working on it during class as well.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Earth Day: Students will be celebrating Earth Day in class on Monday, April 22nd! We will write about ways we can help our planet and do some fun Earth Day math. We will finish the day watching the short animated film The Lorax.

House System: Congratulations to House Reveur for winning the most points last week! Remember to wear your house shirt on Thursday!

OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE

Math: We will continue with lessons 15-16 in Module 5 this week. We will also be reviewing math concepts that we have learned throughout the year in preparation of CAASPP testing.

The goal going forward is to master all multiplication facts x0-x12. Once students master their multiplication facts, they will move on to their related 0-12 division fluency.

Reader's Workshop: This week, we will be taking a practice CAASPP Performance Task. The performance task asks students to read multiple sources, take digital notes and write a multi-paragraph essay according to a prompt. We will be going over the format of the performance task, learning how to take digital notes, reviewing how to cite sources in our writing, and practicing writing a multi-paragraph essay.

Writer's Workshop: This week, we will begin an informational report project on biomes. Students will be researching and gathering information from credible sources.

P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and WEDNESDAY for P.E every week.
