Week 3

September 5-8

Hello Parents and Students,

Back-to-School Night: Wednesday, September 6th will be our Back-to-School Night beginning at 6:00. We have an early dismissal at 1:25. This evening will have very important information. I will be explaining the curriculum in depth, my procedures and expectations, the importance of reading at home, and how parents can help their children at home. Please save the date for this very important evening.

Weekly Folder: A parent/guardian signature is required weekly. Students will return the folder the next school day

Green Take Home Folder: Please empty this folder weekly. This is where any flyers, completed schoolwork or artwork will come home.

Communicator: Each day, please check the homework assigned to your child. Once they have completed their assignments, please sign the communicator.

Our Week at a Glance

Math: This week, students will continue working in their Learn and Apply workbooks. Students must travel with their Apply Homework book to and from school each day. Books must stay in good working condition. This week, students will use equal-groups and arrays to explore division.  Students will make connections between multiplication and division.

Reader's Workshop: We will begin our Benchmark curriculum Unit 1: Government for the People. Our focus will be answering the essential question: Why do people participate in government? We will also be learning how to identify and annotate the main idea and key details of different texts.
