February 9-13
Hello Parents and Students,
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Valentine's Day: 3rd grade will be celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday, February 13th. We will be doing a craft and Valentine's themed activities throughout the day. In the afternoon, we will be doing a Valentine exchange. Teachers will be providing a bag that students will decorate to collect their valentines. Please do not send in a box.
Students do not have to participate in the exchange. If your child would like to participate in the exchange, we have 30 students total. Please ensure your child has a valentine to exchange with everyone. To help it run smoothly, we ask that students do not write who it is to and only write their name for who it is from.
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: The goal for this month is to master all multiplication facts x0-x12. Please make sure your child is practicing multiplication facts for at least 10 minutes a night. It is very important that they are fluent in multiplication facts as they continue their educational career. If you would like to print a set of flashcards, visit this site. We will be working on lessons 10 and 11. Students will work on a Study Guide on Wednesday and will take it home to review for their test on Thursday.
Reader's Workshop: This week, we will begin Unit 6: Making Decisions. Students will be focusing on the essential question: what helps us solve problems?
Writer's Workshop: Students will be working on an informational paragraph about their President. Students will be utilizing the information that they gathered last week from their President Research report.
Social Studies: Students will be learning about geography in week 7. We will be looking at maps and learning what a cartographers job is.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday for P.E every week.
