Week 27

March 18-22

Hello Parents and Students,

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Early Dismissal: This week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday students will be dismissed at 1:25 for conferences. If I have requested a conference with you, your student should have brought home a conference form last week. You also would have received an email from me today (Monday). If you did not receive either of those reminders, no conference is needed at this time :)

Field Trip: When we return from Spring Break, we will be going on a Lifelab field trip to SEEAG at Petty Ranch, located in Ventura County. We will be going on April 9th, from 8 am to noon. Permission slips/waivers will be sent home this week. These forms are due Friday. If you would like to volunteer for the field trip, click the link below to sign up. First come, first serve :)

House System: Congratulations to House Amistad for winning the most points last week! Remember to wear your house bracelet (optional: house colored clothing) on Thursday!

Student Work: This past week and this week, you will start seeing more student work coming home. The work may be past tests, class assignments, or simply practice pages. Graded work is analyzed and will contribute to final report card grades.

OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE

Math: We will continue with lessons 2-5 in our new Module 5 books. This module will focus on fractions.

Students will recieve their math tests back this week. Math test corrections need to be completed with the help of a grown up, on a separate sheet of paper. Test corrections are due on Friday.

The goal going forward is to master all multiplication facts x0-x12. Once students master their multiplication facts, they will move on to their related 0-12 division fluency.

Reader's Workshop: This week, we will be working on the following skills as a review: sequencing,  finding the main idea/key details, compare and contrast and answering text-dependent questions. We will also be starting our new Benchmark books: Advancements in Technology.

Writer's Workshop: This week, we will finish our research on influencial woman in history. We will also write an opinion piece about Cell Phones. This will be our first opinion writing using and citing sources. Great practice for the upcoming CAASPP test!

P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E every week.

Art Docent: Our next art docent lesson will be on Thursday, March 21st. Students will be using stencils to create movement in their art.
