ANNOUNCEMENTS
Picture Day: Picture day is this Monday, September 15th!
OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE
Math: This week, students will use the properties of multiplication to explore strategies they can use to multiply efficiently. They will explore the commutative and distributive properties of multiplication.
Reader's Workshop: We will continue our Benchmark curriculum Unit 1: Government for the People. Our focus will be answering the essential question: Why do people participate in government? We will continue learning to annotate text and focus on skills such as finding the main idea, answering text-dependent questions, sequencing, and comparing/contrasting story elements.
Writer's Workshop: This week students will continue to practice writing a well-constructed, narrative paragraph. Students will be writing complete sentences using correct capitalization, spelling and punctuation. They will learn how to write a topic sentence, supporting details and a concluding sentence.
Science: Through reading an informational text, students continue to explore how organisms can be similar and different. Students read the book Blue Whales and Buttercups, which provides many examples of the great diversity of organisms on Earth and the many ways in which they can be similar and different.
Social Studies: This week, students will continue with Week 4 in our Studies Weekly curriculum. This week we will learn about taking action and making a difference.
P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Friday for P.E./Dance class every week.
