ANNOUNCEMENTS

Federal Impact Forms: Please turn in your federal impact form no later than Wednesday, October 11th. 

Module 1 Books: Students will come home on Monday with their Module 1 Learn and Apply books. These are no longer needed at school since we are moving on to Module 2. Please keep these books at home to use as you see fit. 

Scholastic Book Order: It is time for our 1st Scholastic Book Order! If you would like to order books, our class page is https://orders.scholastic.com/YG4WQ. Please order by 10/18/23. 


OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE

Math: On Tuesday, your students will come home with a graded math test from last week. Please REVIEW the test with your child, help them CORRECT the problems they got wrong and SIGN the math test. A corrected and signed math test will be due on Friday. Also this week, students will recieve new math books as we begin Module 2, which focuses on measurement. 

Reader's Workshop: We will be finishing our Benchmark curriculum Unit 1: Government for the People. Our focus will be answering the essential question: Why do people participate in government? 

Students will continue participating in our Reader's Workshop centers. Our focus will be answering Who, What, Where, When and Why questions after reading a grade level text. We are working on finding text evidence to answer comprehension questions. 

We will continue reading our class chapter book, Frindle

Writer's Workshop: This week students will begin writing their first narrative. They will focus on descriptive language and the use of adjectives to add spice to their writing. They will also learn about setting, character development, sequence of events and story problems. 

Art: Students will finish their Art to Remember projects this week. 

Social Studies: This week, students will continue with Week 8 in our Studies Weekly curriculum.  Week 8 teaches students how to use map skills! 


Science: We will continue working in our first unit of study for Science, which is Balancing Forces. We will begin exploring some October themed investigations through Mystery Science.

P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E every week.
