OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE

Math: In class we will review a study guide on Wednesday and an assessment will be given to students on Thursday. Your child will come home on Wednesday night with a completed study guide. Please assist them with reviewing the problems, studying is their homework. This may look something like asking problems verbally, writing similar problems down on a new paper, or covering up the answers and redoing the problem. The assessment given will be very similar to the study guide.

Reader's Workshop: We will continue our Benchmark curriculum Unit 1: Government for the People. Our focus will be answering the essential question: Why do people participate in government?

Students will continue participating in our Reader's Workshop centers which include reading to self, listening to reading, word work and grammar, responding to reading and using technology to build reading strategies.

We have also started our first class chapter book, Frindle

Writer's Workshop: This week students learn how to write an acrostic poem about October. They will focus on descriptive language and the use of adjectives to add spice to their writing.

Art: Students will begin their Art to Remember projects this week.

Science: We will continue working in our first unit of study for Science, which is Balancing Forces. We will begin exploring some October themed investigations through Mystery Science.

P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and Thursday for P.E every week.
