Week 29

April 9-12

Hello Parents and Students,

Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed some relaxation and family time over Spring Break!

DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Cell Phone/Smart Watch Update: "To remind you, effective Thursday, April 11, cell phones, smartwatches, and earphones of all sorts are to be out of sight and not used during the school day. Of course students can have them set to silent in their pockets or backpacks. Students will need to ask to go to the office if they need to communicate with their parents. The office is happy to take parent calls in urgent matters like unexpected dismissal changes."

ANNOUNCEMENTS

House System: Congratulations to House Altruismo for winning the most points before break! Remember to wear your house bracelet on Thursday! Shirts will be distributed very soon :)

Field Trip: This Tuesday, we will be going on a field trip to Petty Farm. We will leave first thing in the morning around 8:15 and we will return to school prior to lunch. Please make sure your student has a water bottle.

P.E. Update: This week, we will be starting P.E. classes with a P.E. teacher on Wednesdays. Please dress appropriately for P.E. on Wednesdays.

OUR WEEK AT A GLANCE

Math: We will have a math test this week. The study guide will come home on Thursday and the test will be on Friday. The test will cover lessons 1-10.

The goal going forward is to master all multiplication facts x0-x12. Once students master their multiplication facts, they will move on to their related 0-12 division fluency.

Reader's Workshop: This week, we will be working in our Benchmark books: Advancements in Technology. We will also be focusing on text-dependent questions and finding evidence directly from the text. This is an especially important skill for 3rd graders to learn as we approach CAASPP testing!

Writer's Workshop: This week, we will begin an informational writing project about the habitat, diet, anatomy and life cycle of bunnies.  We will also be writing about our Spring Break experiences!

P.E.: Please dress appropriately on Monday and WEDNESDAY for P.E every week.

Art Docent: Students will be painting their clay projects this week before they go to the kiln for their final glazing.
