Consider what the Chief of Staff of the Army is telling us in the above video.
As an NCO, the ability to effectively motivate others in a way that ensures the mission, but at the same time, promotes flexibility is critical. In this lesson, we will examine a leadership concept, Mission Command, which was adopted from the U.S. Army and, if added to your leadership toolbox, improves your probability of mission success and provides a mechanism to effectively lead your organization.
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Explain the concept of Mission Command.
Explain the role of NCOs & SNCOs within Mission Command.
Comprehend the use of Mission Command to conduct military operations.
Lesson Intent: This lesson is for the students to gain a better understanding of their role in the execution of mission command. Specifically, students need to examine the NCO/SNCOs role in translating commander’s intent into executable actions to achieve mission objectives.
This lesson is derived from requirements for Joint Leadership found in CJCSI 1805.01C, Enlisted Professional Military Education Policy.
Student Preparation/Homework Assignment:
