Consider what the Chief of Staff of the Army is telling us in the above video.
As an NCO, the ability to effectively motivate others in a way that ensures the mission, but at the same time, promotes flexibility is critical. In this lesson, we will examine a leadership concept, Mission Command, which was adopted from the U.S. Army and, if added to your leadership toolbox, improves your probability of mission success and provides a mechanism to effectively lead your organization.
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
Explain the concept of Mission Command.
Explain the role of NCOs & SNCOs within Mission Command.
Summarize the use of Mission Command to conduct military operations
Lesson Intent: This lesson is for the students to gain a better understanding of their role in the execution of mission command. Specifically, students need to examine the NCO/SNCOs role in translating commander’s intent and mission-type orders into executable actions to achieve mission objectives.
This lesson is derived from requirements for Joint Leadership found in CJCSI 1805.01C, Enlisted Professional Military Education Policy.
Student Preparation/Homework Assignment:
