Lesson intent:
The intent of this lesson is for students to gain the foundational knowledge and understanding of how the military is organized and structured. Students should know why the Department of Defense (DoD) exists and how it is organized in addition to what each service contributes to the defense of our nation.
This lesson is derived from the requirements for National Military Capabilities found in CJCSI 1805.01C, Enlisted Professional Military Education Policy.
