So I considered it, then decided to use it to my own ends.

Your sister and I hid several things from you

so that you would grow up safe and happy. 

You don’t know everything,

and I won’t tell you all of it, either.

But I think there’s something you must know about Arthur.

To your sister, he is

such a positive presence that she clings onto him blindly.

She’ll forgive him anything, justify all his wrongs.

All you need to know is that his Round Table 

is but the product of his arrogance, of his contempt for the vanquished.

Britain is at peace only thanks to the sacrifices of those who opposed Arthur’s reign.

And Arthur is one such man, though he is careful to hide his wrongs from the newer members of the Round Table.

The Grail’s very existence is a symbol of his expediency.

So I arranged for it to be discovered by some knights of the Round Table

by hiring Breuse to steal the Perilous Shield in Corbenic,

to force a knight to go and face Pelles.

MORDRED : 

Breuse? But…

He put so much effort into making sure we wouldn’t take that shield back…

MORGAN : 

He was meant to lead you back to Edinburgh.

Back to me,

so I could bewitch the knight who would then bring the shield back to Corbenic

and discover the Grail.

But…

Percival’s presence changed everything.

I’ve spent enough time around Pelles to know him to be desperate enough to jump at the chance to get himself a new host for the Grail.

All I meant to do was to bring to light

the lie behind Britain’s prosperity.

The Grail, its twisted ties to Corbenic…

I don’t know if Arthur is aware of the situation,

but he’s done much and more to safeguard his alliance with Corbenic.

All of this should’ve been a stain on his reputation.

MORDRED :

MORGAN :

But now, you and the Grail are bound.

I’m afraid…

…I’ll need to think about all of this,

what it implies,

and what we must do now. 

The same goes for you.

This is all a lot to take in.

As for what happened…

We’ll inform the Round Table of the Listenoise brothers’ deaths. 

Time and time again, Lamorak demonstrated hostile behavior towards his own blood due to the Grail’s influence.

We’ll use that to explain what happened.

Lamorak was under the Grail’s control

and attacked Aglovale, before going for you.

All Gawain did was intervene.
